The first International Film Festival that awards the best Italian works abroad.

The 11th edition of the Italian Movie Award ® International Festival of Italian Cinema Abroad with the theme:”Leonardo da Vinci – Knowledge & Innovation”.

The Festival, as every year was presented on May 20 in Cannes at the Italian Pavilion on the occasion of the Festival De Cannes. The event continued in Pompeii from 27 July to 4 August and saw the presence of Claudia Gerini, Carlo Buccirosso, Vinicio Marchioni, Ludovica Nasti, Luca Ward, Paolo Conticini, Maurizio Casagrande, Diana Del Bufalo, Giorgio Tirabassi and Sergio Muniz recording over 10,000 audience attendances.  As with the 10th edition that exceeded 30,000 attendances and almost one million view on the Italian television Mediaset Iris, Extra and Mediaset Italia networks, this year the festival will close in New York.  On November 19, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.  at the Frank A. Bennack Theater at The Paley Center For Media in Manhattan at 52nd St and Fifth Avenue. The most important moment will see the “Roots” award to the Italian-American actor and director John Turturro  who will also be awarded the prestigious Bronze Medal of the Presidency of the Senate of the Italian Republic.  Many guests and award-winners are also expected:  Claudio Bisio, Valentina Lodovini, Massimiliano Gallo, Ludovica Nasti, Enzo Sisti, Francesco Panella, Sally Fischer, Giorgio Cantarini, Francesca Chillemi  and the connections from Italy with Paola Cortellesi, Giampaolo Letta, Luca Argentero, Paolo Genovese and Chiara Ferragni. Also this year to join the president and artistic director Carlo Fumo will be Luca Abete, famous tv presenter of the festival since 2009. In New York, awards for the best works of Italian cinema abroad will be awarded. New and original format of the festival that is proving very popular with the public and above all, among the movie industries insiders.

BEST MOVIE 2019: "The Paranza Dei Bambini" by Claudio Giovannesi; "Il Traditore" by Marco Bellocchio; "Martin Eden" by Pietro Marcello; "The Mayor of the Rione Sanità" by Mario Martone; "5 E’ il numero perfetto" by Igor Tuveri.

BEST DOC 2019: "Arrivederci Saigon" by Wilma Labbate; "Selfie" by Agostino Ferrente; "Io, Leonardo" by Jesus Garces Lambert; "Diabolik Sono Io" by Giancarlo Soldi; "Daphne" by Federico Bondi.

BEST SHORT 2019: "Anna" by Federica D’Ignoti; "Im Baren" by Lilian Sassanelli; "Frontier" by Alessandro Di Gregorio; "Roba Da Grandi" by Rolando Ravello; and finally "Goodbye Marilyn" by Maria Di Razza, winner of the special Intel prize for the best short animation movie.

BEST TV SERIES 2019: "L'Amica Geniale" by Saverio Costanzo; "Suburra" (2nd season) by Andrea Molaioli and Piero Messina; "Gomorra" (4th season) by Francesca Comencini and Claudio Cupellini; "The New Pope" by Paolo Sorrentino. "Made In Italy" by Luca Lucini and Ago Panini.

BEST LOCATION 2019 (important new feature of this edition): Municipality of Matera for "007-No Time To Die" by Cary Fukunaga; Municipality of Florence for "Six Underground" by Michael Bay; Municipality of Maiori (Salerno, South Italy) for "Tenet" by Christopher Nolan; Municipality of Turin for "The King's Man - The Origins" by Matthew Vaughn; Municipality of Naples for "Maria Maddalena" by Garth Davis;

Finally, all special awards: to the actor Massimiliano Gallo  theBest Actoraward; actress  Paola Cortellesi the“Best Actress” award;  director  Mario Martone the “Best Director” award; Italian-American actor and director  John Turturro the “Roots” Lifetime Achievement Award;   Medusa  Film Spa  ”Best Distribution” at CEO  Giampaolo Letta; the “Comedy Award” to actor  Claudio Bisio  for “Bentornato Presidente” by Giancarlo Fontana and Giuseppe Stasi; and the awards for the promotion of Made in Italy  to the TV program “Little Big Italy“  by Francesco Panella, to the producer Enzo Sisti  and the famous New York PR  Sally Fischer; Finally, for the success of listening “People Award” to the docu-film “Chiara Ferragni – Unposted” by Elisa Amoruso.

 

At the end of the event, a fundraising dinner was organized at the Gnoccheria Wall Street curated by the restaurateur  Michele Iuliano  in favor of “Cancer Research” by the Sbarro Health Research Organization of Philadelphia  www.shro.org directed by researcher and oncologist Prof. Antonio Giordano.

Appointment November 19 at 21:30 100 Broad St (entry from Bridge St), New York, NY 10004, USA.  It will be possible to taste an exclusive menu at  200 Us dollar per person  (tax deduct.). Participants who have booked by November 15 will receive the exclusive invitation to the November 19 awards ceremony at The Paley Center For Media.
