THE FESTIVAL: The festival and international film award ITALIAN MOVIE AWARD ® awaits you in Pompeii from 10 to 17 September 2017 at La Cartiera Natural Park. The festival has come to its ninth edition and was born in 2009 by the innovative idea of its founder and current president, director Carlo Fumo. The idea of creating an international film festival that could enhance a unique cultural, historical and tourist heritage, such as the Italian one, through not just a festival / event, but a real network of young professionals capable of making audiovisual works, spreading Cinematic culture through hundreds of screenings of works from all over the world, attracting investment by guaranteeing the presence of great personalities in the cinema world and training young people through the creation of highly-trained master’s and workshops. All these features, grouped in a large Italian region like Campania, gave birth to a unique cultural, tourism and training mix.
Over the years this concept and this “mission” has been very successful in the UNESCO sites of Paestum and Pompeii where the festival has been held in the last 3 editions. In September, at the Venice Film Festival press conference, 2017 nominations will be announced by the Academic Jury and the Italian Movie Award® 2017 will be presented, with the original task of awarding the best film, documentary and short Italian film to ‘ Overseas, decided by Jury Roots composed of the most important communities of Italian origin abroad. As it happened in 2016, New York and Moscow will be involved again with dedicated collateral events, and will also present the project for the creation of the innovative and unprecedented CinEUnion ® platform / network, the new Filmeet ® format III ° Italian Movie Master ® and finally the Dreamweek ® tourist-cultural crowddeveloping campaign / project for 2018.
THEME AND RETROSPECTIVE 2017: The Festival will dedicate a retrospective in honor of the Oscar ® Award and the famous Italian-American director Martin Scorsese. The Italian Movie Award® for the social issues dealt with, has been receiving the prestigious Bronze Medals of the Italian Republic’s Presidency, the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Republic for six years in addition to the prestigious patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Goods and cultural activities and tourism during the last three editions.
The theme of the upcoming edition will be “RADICI”: historical, cultural and traditions of a nation that through millions of descendants has brought to the world’s values the values of an ancient people that of creativity and art has always been “flag carrier” .
LEADS: In the last editions, the numerous testimonials, the countless public participation (over 140,000 attended attendees – 35,000 in the last edition) and the presence of great personalities have pushed the festival beyond national borders, with the realization of Prestigious side events such as the 69th Cannes Film Festival in France, or dedicated events in the cities of New York, USA and Moscow, Russia, along with the Italian location will also be the official locations of the next edition, between spring and Autumn 2017. In over nine years of activity, over 60 days of festivals have been organized and over 25 collateral activities in more than 20 locations between Italy and abroad. More than 4,000 feature films, short films and documentaries have been featured in the categories of competitions, of which over 250 have been selected in competition and screened during the festival and collateral events. The festival hosted more than 200 filmmakers, actors, producers and workmen from all over the world.
ITALIAN MOVIE MASTER 2017: Join and participate in “ITALIAN MOVIE MASTER © 2017″, an intense, highly-trained Italian film festival that is waiting for you from September 10 to 17, 2017 in Pompeii.
This year, the course is divided into 7 meetings of about 3 hours each at the Film Festival at the event halls with the opportunity to get to know and interact with the stars present at the festival and to watch the films in competition in their respective categories. In addition to the evening meetings, 14 practical theoretical-practice sessions will be organized in the morning and in the afternoon at the hotels and parties of the event. The training course is aimed at students and not from fifteen to forty-five years of age. The Master of Cinema High Education is the first in Italy totally free. (Minors participating must necessarily be accompanied by a parent, or by an accompanying adult who may also take part in the Master)
The seats available for the 2017 edition are 100. The total length of the Italian Movie Master © is approximately 42 hours divided into: meetings, lessons, technical equipment and shorts, documentaries and feature films.
Teachers of the Italian Movie Master © will be illustrious representatives of the Italian and international cinematography chosen by the Italian Movie Award®, university professors, teachers from the Naples Cinema School. In previous editions the illustrious teachers of the Italian Movie Master © were: Luca Ward, Paolo Genovese, Valerio Caprara, Gianluca Della Campa, Mario Riso, Nedo Novi, Fabiana Sera, Antonio De Rosa, Alessandro Bencivenni, Gaetano Carito, Vittorio Sodano The artistic director and president of the Italian Movie Award ® director Carlo Fumo.
